Getting Started:The following is an outline of the steps to getting involved with PacAm as a pilot:
1. Registering as a PacAm pilot
2. Selecting a flight
3. Downloading necessary charts and plates
4. Downloading the aircraft
5. Flying the flight
6. Submitting a Pilot Report
1. Registering as a PacAm pilot
Joining PacAm is a simple process. If you have not already done so, fill out an application. It will be submitted to the PacAm staff and within a couple days, your application will have been reviewed and you will have been responded to. Please note that in order to fly PacAm aircraft, you must have Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, or 2002 (all aircraft in 2000, so 2002 users must be able to convert).

2. Selecting a flight
Many airlines put restrictions on the planes you can fly and what flights you can fly based on your experience as a virtual pilot. Though this is most certainly a safe precaution to take, many pilots are often flying planes they wish not to. At PacAm there is a ranking system, however just by joining the airline you are rewarded much choice in what flight you wish to fly. We only follow two restrictions. The first is that any pilot who joins PacAm without any previous experience is considered a Trainee, and can only fly the ATR72 until 5.0 hours are logged in our roster. After 5 hours is logged, a video must be submitted to the Vice President or CEO of an instrument landing, before the pilot's rank is promoted. Once the pilot is promoted, he may proceed with the following rankings:
| Rank |
Hours Logged |
| First Officer |
0-10 |
| Captain |
10-30 |
| Senior Captain |
30-60 |
| ATP Captain |
60-100 |
| ATP Sr. Captain |
100+ |
Our second restriction is that once past 5.0 hours of flying experience, we restrict you to flying only the planes that you wish to fly! Our timetable can be viewed by clicking here. Once the pilot has logged 5.0 hours he may recieve additional training if he desires.

3. Downloading necessary charts and plates
After selecting a flight, you must download the necessary charts (SIDs and STARs) for your departure and arrival airports. These will be available on your hub reference page. You must formulate a flight plan. If you do not know how to do this, please refer to the training programs. PacAm strongly suggests that you fly on VATSIM or SATCO servers to experience the optimum flight experience with real air traffic control.

4. Downloading the aircraft
Our fleet has been carefully selected, to suit the desires of the pilots. In order to fly our scheduled flights, you must have the right aircraft. Visit our fleet page and download the aircraft specific to the flight you would like to fly, and the version of Microsoft Flight Simulator you own. Within the compressed (*.zip) file, you will find instructions for aircraft installation. If you are not familiar with downloading zip files, visit www.winzip.com and download the latest trial version of their software.

5. Flying the flight
Now that you have selected a flight, downloaded the necessary charts and aircraft, you finally get to fly. If you have any trouble flying please refer to our training program. When flying remember to record what flight number you have chosen. It is necessary if you fly on Squawkbox. If you choose to fly on Squawkbox, you must use the callsign composed of the initials PCM and your flight number (ie. PCM131). If you choose to fly on voice, identify yourself as "Pac-Am-One-Three-One". Also, before you fly record how much fuel you have. After you have landed and are at the gate at your destination, record how much fuel you have and figure out the difference. In the PIREP form, you must include how much fuel you have burned. After you have flown, you may report your flight.

6. Submitting a pilot report
After flying the flight you may submit a pilot report so that your hours will be automatically logged into the PacAm roster. Be sure to have the correct duration of your flight, correct flight number, your correct pilot number, your correct PIREP password, and the correct amount of fuel burned in flight. After doing this you may select another flight from our timetable - however you may not fly the same flight twice. For realism, we suggest that you fly a flight that departs from the airport you have just arrived at.
